27th October 1991 – 29th June 2008 (16 years old when taken)

Ben Kinsella was a sixteen year old boy who loved life. He loved his family and friends, his dog Teddy, football, art, cooking and girls. He had a heart of gold and was the biggest clown there ever was – always trying to make people laugh in any way he could
His ambition was to be a tattooist or a Graphic designer and for his GCSE exams, he produced some amazing work but unfortunately never got to learn of the A* grade he received for it
Another passion of his was writing and only weeks before he died, he produced a piece of original writing that horrifyingly mirrored his own tragic death shortly after.
Anybody who knew Ben knew what a special, caring and fun-loving boy he was and he is very deeply missed.
Out of the darkness comes light
The Ben Kinsella Trust
The Ben Kinsella Trust is a Registered Charity (No. 1126612). After Ben Kinsella was tragically murdered on Sunday 29th June 2008, his family set up a trust in his name. Since his death, the Trust has received amazing support and many generous donations and plans to use its funds primarily in the following ways:
- To pass on the legacy of Ben
- To promote knife-crime awareness
- To help support other anti-knife crime charities and projects
- To hopefully one day build a youth centre in Ben’s name – as a tribute to him and to help protect, support and educate the kids on our streets.
Above all, the family urge all teenagers to put down their knives and weapons and think about the pain and suffering they may cause.
Ben’s Law
After agreeing on request by the Kinsella family and due to the public outrage surrounding the case, Justice Secretary Jack Straw announced the minimum tariff for murders committed with a knife will rise from 15 to 25 years.
This new development is being branded “Ben’s Law” and Ben’s Father George hopes the new law will act as a deterrent to anyone who is thinking of carrying a knife

The Kinsella family would like to thank everyone who has supported them during this very difficult time. The donations and messages of love and condolence mean a great deal to them and they know it would mean a great deal to Ben also.
