The parents of Isschan Nicholls, who was murdered in January 2010 without anyone being charged, are proposing to hold a variety show in memory of all the victims of knife crime – including their families.

In memory of Isschan, and because many other families have gone through the same traumatic experience, the family wanted to honour their son’s and the other victim’s lives, such as Ben Kinsella, Jimmy Mizen, Gavin Defoe, Damilola Taylor, Stephen Lawrence and many others, by organising a variety show to promote awareness of gang and knife crime, and the major impact that it has on young individuals, the families of the victims and the community in general.

The show will take place on Saturday 16th October 2010 at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, London, E15 – and will consist of poetry, music, dancing, short sketches and appearances from various celebrities. We hope to raise awareness towards our younger community for them to think about the consequences of their actions and to inform the audiences that a good support system exists through Victim Support Charity.

The final line-up is still being finalised but we are hoping that various celebrities will make an appearance on the day to either give a small performance or to say some inspiring words to the audience as positive role models fighting against knife crime. Other performers on the night will stem from young dance and music groups formed in the community, the majority of whom will be performing voluntarily.

All proceeds will be donated to Victim Support, who will be appearing on the night to speak out against gang and knife crime and who will reinforce their support network for the victim’s families that are already in place.
